Councillors were this week celebrating the refusal of a planning application on Zoar Street, which was turned down by the Planning Inspectorate on appeal. The Appeal refusal for a development of 6 one bedroomed flats at Troydale Fabrications follows the withdrawal of an application for flats based on a garage site on Zoar Street earlier this month. Councillor Judith Elliott said, “We were delighted that the Planning Inspectorate backed local residents and refused this application on appeal. We are again grateful for the support from local residents who have continued to support our campaign to prevent inappropriate development in the area.” |

The Planning inspector refused the application on grounds of inadequate car parking provision, a materially harmful loss of privacy for local residents and lack of amenity space. Councillor Terry Grayshon said “We continue to watch planning applications carefully and will take a vigorous approach to opposing development that has a detrimental impact on local communities.” |
