St Andrews Avenue flagged up for programme

Councillors Judith Elliott and Terry Grayshon at Saint Andrew's Avenue

St Andrews Avenue, which is in Morley conservation area, is to benefit from a flagstone repair and replacement programme following work by Morley Borough Independent Councillors Judith Elliott and Terry Grayshon. The Councillors has financed a programme to replace the traditional Yorkshire stone flags which have been cracked or stolen over recent months.

Councillor Judith Elliot said “The programme is costing over £3000 but is money well spent to preserve the traditional look of the area. We have suffered recently with cracked and stolen flags but we are determined to return the area to its former glory.

The programme will commence in the new financial year and will deal with the length of St Andrews Avenue adjacent to Dartmouth Park.

Councillor Terry Grayshon said, “This has been a concern to many local residents who wanted to avoid tarmac replacing cracked or broken flags. The area has conservation status and this programme will contribute towards making the area attractive for both local residents and visitors to Dartmouth Park.”
