Morley Borough Independent Councillors attended Lewisham Park Centre to see for themselves the activation of the new CCTV system covering the Centre and the Park. The new system will monitor the Park and Centre and will be used to reduce levels of anti-social behaviour in the area. Councillor Terry Grayshon, who first proposed the scheme, said “We have suffered a degree of vandalism, especially to the Sarah Harper memorial garden and this new system will play a major role in preventing this yobbish behaviour in the future.” The CCTV system also covers the park and will be save all coverage on a hard disc computer system so that information can be used to prosecute offenders. |

Councillor Grayshon said “I am pleased the system is now up and running. A similar system in Gildersome has substantially reduced vandalism and anti-social behaviour in the area and I am confident that this system will have the same positive impact. This is part of a continuing programme of work which is improving our parks, making them welcoming places for local people.” |
