New security fencing is to be erected
the Denshaw Estate following concerns raised by local residents and
Councillor Terry Grayshon. The fencing will be placed
along the length of the footpath which connects Denshaw Grove and Denshaw
Drive. Fencing will also be set in place on the footpath which connects Clough Street and Denshaw Grove in an attempt to stop fly tipping on the former garage site off Clough Street. The two footpaths are well used by local residents and the fending improvements will also see repairs to the Clough Street path with the resurfacing of the flagged area. |
Welcoming the news Councillor Terry Grayshon said "For some time there have been concerns about the two paths, which are very well used by local residents. Unfortunately the paths have also been the locations for Anti Social behaviour, in particular the one linking the Grove and the Drive. The new fencing should help stop this as it will reduce the opportunity for people to access the rear of properties bordering the path. The Clough Street fencing will help stop fly tipping which has been an ongoing problem at this site for years." Councillor Grayshon is chairman of the Newlands and Denshaw Neighbourhood Improvement Plan which has seen a number of actions take place in the area, including security fencing on Albert Drive. Ward Colleague Councillor Judith Elliott commented " I am pleased that this work is to take place and am sure that it will bring benefits to the local community, I know that fly tipping has been a problem at the site off Clough Street and we have been working for some time on resolving the matter. We have more Police Community Support Officers coming to Morley following initiatives by the MBI Councillors which should also help deal with these problems." |
